Asomiya Yuva Mancha alleges corruption in PM-Kisan scheme

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Demanding for a CBI investigation, the Asomiya Yuva Mancha alleged that rampant corruption is happening in the PM-Kisan scheme. Addressing a press conference at Dispur Press Club on Friday, the Mancha said that maximum number of people are indulging in corruption, where a group of brokers are successfully taking out Rs 6000 per farmer in the name of PM-Kisan scheme in Barpeta district. Secretary General of Asomiya Yuva Mancha Jitul Deka said, ‘‘Whereas in other districts of Assam the beneficiaries' list is not more than 2 lakh, the Barpeta district interestingly has a list of over 4 lakh beneficiaries claiming the scheme. We doubt that government agriculture officers are also indulging in this scam. Because to claim this scheme one must have to apply on PM-Kisan portal. His name gets verified through the e-signature of nodal agriculture officer. Only after verification, one gets Rs 6000.Through our personal investigation we have come to know how the brokers are using e-signature on rent. Our investigation says that a broker takes an e-signature for one night at Rs. 50,000 to 60,000. We’ve sent a letter to the Home Minister seeking CBI investigation into it. We also appeal to State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora for a high-level investigation and strong action against the officials, because the E-signature is purely a government password.”
