Guwahati: Assam recorded a total of 372 road traffic accident (RTA) cases over a span of three days, during Bihu from April 14 to April 16, 2025, served by 108 Mrityunjoy Services. The data reveals a steady number of accidents across several districts, highlighting ongoing road safety challenges in the state.
On April 14, a total of 105 accidents were reported. The number spiked on April 15, reaching 139, which was the highest during the three-day period. The count slightly dropped to 128 on April 16, yet remained significantly high.
A closer look at the district-wise data shows that Kamrup Rural recorded the highest number of accidents on April 14, with 16 cases. On April 15, Kamrup Rural again topped the list with 13 cases, followed closely by Darrang and Dhemaji, both reporting 11 cases. On April 16, Golaghat emerged as the district with the highest number of accidents, reporting 12 cases in a single day.
On the other hand, several districts consistently reported the lowest numbers. On April 14,Dhubri, Hojai, East Karbi Anglong, Morigaon, South Salmara and West Karbi Anglong each with no accident cases reported. Similarly, on April 15, Barpeta, Charaideo, Hailakandi, South Salmara, Sribhumi, and Tamulpur again with no reported accident case. On April 16, only two districts Tamulpur, and West Karbi Anglong also recorded with zero accident.
The data over the three days, South Salmara and West Karbi Anglong recorded the lowest number of accidents, with just 1 case reported. Similarly among all districts, Kamrup Rural reported the highest total number of road traffic accidents, with 35 cases followed by Golaghat with 27 cases over the three-day period.
