Guwahati: The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), Guwahati office, joined the nationwide celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday, with a vibrant and rejuvenating session aimed at fostering physical vitality, mental clarity, and holistic wellness among employees.
Held at the Guwahati campus, the morning event saw enthusiastic participation from employees and support staff. The session was graced by the presence of S. I. Singh, Chief General Manager (CGM) and Hemendra Agarwal, Chief General Manager (CGM), who encouraged all present to embrace the spirit of yoga as a way of life and praised the wellness-oriented culture being fostered at POWERGRID.
The yoga session was conducted by expert trainers from Bliss Yoga —Rinky Kalita, a two-time Guinness World Record title holder, and Moushumi Ahmed, both certified yoga instructors and co-founders of Bliss Yoga. The session included guided asanas, pranayama, stretching, and face yoga, culminating in group meditation and the chanting of a peace mantra.
A notable highlight of the celebration was a special segment promoting two key digital wellness initiatives — the Y-Break App and the Namaste Yoga App, both developed by the Ministry of AYUSH. The Y-Break (Yoga Break) App is tailored for office-goers, offering 5-minute guided yoga routines that can be performed during short breaks to reduce stress, improve posture, and enhance productivity — all without leaving the desk.
The Namaste Yoga App, on the other hand, provides a comprehensive yoga experience with instructional videos, customizable routines, and insights into yoga philosophy. It is suitable for all levels of practice, from beginners to seasoned yogis. Employees were encouraged to download and incorporate these apps into their daily schedules to stay active and mindful, even amidst demanding work environments.
