PALASBARI: The 15th edition of the Chandubi festival in the Kamrup district of Assam that attracts thousands of tourists will open from Wednesday. This annual festival has become a significant event, drawing thousands of tourists to celebrate the cultural diversity and natural beauty of the region. Organized by the All Rabha Students’ Union, Borduar Bholagaon Anchalik Committee, in collaboration with various Rabha organizations, the festival serves the dual purpose of raising awareness about the preservation of Chandubi Lake and promoting it as a prominent tourist destination.
The festival is expected to feature a five-day programme showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Rabhas and other tribes, attracting not only locals but also tourists from across the state and beyond.
The first day of the programme will be marked by the flag hoisting by the president of the Organizing Committee Bichitra Rabha and the inauguration of the Chandubi Festival-2025 by the Chief Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Tonkeshwar Rabha.
The book “Lokeya” will be unveiled by Dr. Subhash Rabha, General Secretary of Nikhil Rabha Students Union. The meeting will be attended by Palasbari MLA Hemanga Thakuria as the chief guest and dignitaries. There will be a cultural programme from the afternoon.
The five-day-long festival will wit-ness display of ethnic culture and traditions including a food court of ethnic dishes.
