PALASBARI: The 7th biennial convention of the Assam Press Correspondents Union (APCU) Kamrup Metro district committee was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Assam Agricultural University in Azara on Saturday. The programme started with the flag-hoisting ceremony by the president of the committee, Ratan Kalita, which was followed by Smriti Tarpan, initiated by Niren Ch Mali, Abhijit Kalita, Dhrubajyoti Kalita, and Dhananjay Barman.

Dr. Dhirendra Nath Kalita, Director of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, graced the occasion as the chief guest and said the social security of journalists is very important. The meeting dissolved the old committee, and a new committee with 15 members was formed for the next two years, where Ratan Kalita was elected as president, Mousamjyoti Baishya as chief advisor, Abhijit Kalita as secretary, Dhrubajyoti Kalita as working president, Dhananjay Kumar Barman and Bhabani Baruah as vice presidents, Riyaz Ali and Sabita Sarma as assistant secretaries, and Pradip Das as organizing secretary.
