Assam Bhawan Mumbai gets rare honour from Tata Memorial Hospital

GUWAHATI: Assam Bhawan Mumbai has got recognition from prestigious Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai in the form of a rare honour (the only government agency among those honoured by the Hospital on Monday) for its dedicated service to cancer patients.

Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai honoured Assam Bhawan located at Navi Mumbai for the dedicated service it has been rendering for cancer patients at Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai since 2004. The Assam Bhawan team, led by Joint Resident Commissioner Devashish Sharma, has been offering their dedicated services at the Tata Memorial Hospital not just to the patients from Assam, but also to patients from all over the country who come for assistance to their help desk at the general OPD at Tata Hospital.

Assam Bhawan Mumbai is known for offering food and lodging facilities to cancer patients and their attendants at nominal charges. There is also an arrangement for bus communication from the Bhawan to Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai. A fleet of three buses run to and from the Hospital located at Parel. Every day a person from Assam Bhawan accompanies the cancer patients to the Hospital as an attendant, and helps them at the help desk of the Hospital. Assam Bhawan Mumbai has an accommodation capacity of 150 for patients and their attendants, and of them 74 are in the dormitory. The lodging fee is free for the 74 accommodation in the dormitory as the fee is borne by Deepsikha, an Assam-based trust for cancer care.
