Assam BJP Names Probable Candidates For 3 Legislative Assembly Constituencies

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The BJP Assam Pradesh has named the probable candidates for three of the four LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) slated for by-polls on October 21, 2019 in the State. The party is going to name probable candidates for Jania LAC on Thursday.

The State Election Committee (SEC) of the party had its meeting at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan with party president Ranjeet Kumar Dass in the chair on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, NEDA (North East Democratic Alliance) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma, SEC members and three MPs from the State.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia, who is also the general secretary of the State BJP, said: “Barring Jania, the lists of probable candidates for Ratabari, Rangapara and Sonari LACs have been prepared. While the probable candidates for Ratabari LAC are Jaydev Das, Bijay Malakar and Sunil Bin; those for Rangapara LAC are Rajen Borthakur, Batas Orang and Keshab Upadhyay. Swakhyarjyoti Gogoi, Nabanita Handique and Anup Singh Rajpurohit are the probable candidates for the Sonari LAC. Because of a large number of ticket aspirants from the Jania LAC, we haven’t been able to pick up three probable candidates for it today. State party president has been given freehand to choose the list of three for Jania by tomorrow or day after. The State party president is going to hold a meeting with all ticket aspirants of the constituency tomorrow. All the probable candidates for the four LACs will be sent to the party high command that will send back the final list by September 28, 2019.”
