GUWAHATI: Assam Chamber of Commerce (ACC) welcomed the Union Budget 25-26. The budget announced by the finance minister is a much-sought-after relief for the middle class and the low-income groups with the announcement of ‘No Income Tax’ up to Rs 12 lakh, it said.

The budget also gives a big boost to startups by increasing the incorporation period to 5 years. The budget has also significantly tried to enhance exports with the setting up of the Export Promotion Mission. With a bid to motivate new micro and small enterprises, the cover has been raised to Rs 10 crore (an additional 1.5 lakh crore credit over 5 years), ACC said. In a capacity-building initiative for agriculture, the government further plans to enhance the Kishan Credit Card limit to 5 lakhs from the existing 3 lakhs.

Added to the government initiative of fuelling the growth of agriculture comes good news for Assam with the declaration of Sitaraman’s announcement of the revival of the production capacity of Namrup Fertiliser Plant to 12.7 metric tonnes of urea annually, which is a further boost to the development plans of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa.
