GUWAHATI: In a significant step towards Assam’s industrial advancement, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the Campa and Beverages Bottling Plant in Changsari. The industry has been set up by Reliance Consumer Products Limited, a subsidiary of the Reliance Group, in collaboration with the state’s local enterprise, Jericho Foods and Beverages.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sarma hailed the day as a milestone for Assam, marking the commencement of production at the new Campa and Beverages Bottling Plant. Highlighting the significance of a large conglomerate like the Reliance Group stepping forward to establish an industrial unit in Assam, he called it a testament to Assam’s growing industrial appeal. Notably, with an investment of approximately Rs 250 crore, the project is expected to generate direct employment for 300 youths and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 1,000 more.

The CM underscored the state’s accelerating trajectory in industrial development, emphasising that the present State government had successfully secured multiple investment agreements amounting to approximately Rs 40,000 crore. These investments, he noted, were now materialising in a structured and systematic manner, fostering Assam’s economic transformation.

He pointed to the launch of Advantage Assam 2.0 as a crucial turning point, heralding the arrival of major industrial enterprises such as Tata Electronics, which is establishing a semiconductor unit, and Jericho Foods and Beverages, which is expanding its operations in the state. Furthermore, he highlighted the recent establishment of an Infosys centre in Assam, alongside a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) under the Rural Products initiative.

Dr. Sarma reiterated that the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, scheduled for the 25th and 26th of February, is poised to be a landmark event, with anticipated investments surpassing Rs 1 lakh crore. He noted that the summit is expected to draw some of India’s most influential industrialists, including Mukesh Ambani of the Reliance Group and the Chairman of Tata Sons. If Assam could successfully cultivate a truly conducive industrial climate, the resulting influx of private enterprises would serve as a powerful catalyst, propelling the state’s economic growth to unprecedented heights, he added.

Reflecting on the long-standing duopoly of Pepsi and Coca-Cola in the soft drinks market, the CM urged collective support for this revitalised Indian brand, stated a press release.
