GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta said that most of the readers of the print media and the viewers of the media are shifting to the digital platforms for news. It does not augur well for the print and electronic media. It is a matter of concern.

As the print and electronic media are not adapting themselves to the changing media landscape, their readers and viewers have been on the decline, and this situation continues to benefit the social media, the chief minister said.

He said since Assam is an aspiration state, the media in the state need to synchronize with this trend and come out of their decades-old prism. The print media or global media platforms, to remain relevant, must represent the mindset of today’s society.
