GUWAHATI: The Director of Accounts and Treasuries (DoAT), Assam, has formed a nine-member committee to study matters related to the introduction of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and its implementation with effect from April 1, 2025.
The committee comprises DoAT Ajit Das as the chairman, Joint Director Pranab Sarma as a member, Deputy Director Hiramoni Barman as member-secretary, system administration Utpal Bhatta, assistant system administrator Tamojyoti Bose, system operator Ashok Bhattacharjee, and special NPS officer Gunuran Gogoi as members. While the government nominated a member as domain expert, there will be a co-opted member with permission from the chairman.
The committee will study (i) the provisions of the UPS for their effective implementation, (ii) prepare a draft SOP (standard operating procedure) and an operation manual for the implementation of the UPS, (iii) the modus operandi of 8.5 percent of the government's contribution, (iv) prepare a draft for system design and workflow for the implementation of the UPS, and (v) prepare a draft amendment required in the compassionate family pension scheme (CFP) about NPS and UPS, etc.
