Assam: Finance department clarifies HRA, CCA eligibility for govt employees

Guwahati: The Finance (Audit & Fund) Department of Assam has issued a crucial clarification regarding the admissibility of House Rent Allowance (HRA) and City Compensatory Allowance (CCA) for government employees. The move comes in response to a flurry of queries from various departments concerning allowance entitlements for employees posted at one location but attached to duties elsewhere.

According to a circular issued by Finance department employees will be eligible for HRA and CCA as per the rates applicable to their original place of substantive posting, not the location where their services are temporarily attached.

The circular further urges all departments to prioritize direct postings of officials instead of frequently attaching them to subordinate offices. The Finance Department emphasized that such measures would help avoid administrative confusion and ensure employees receive their entitlements correctly and promptly.
