GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court issued notices to the Commissioner-Secretary and the Director of the Agriculture Department, Assam, on a contempt petition filed by Amguri Naba Nirman Samity for not implementing the directives of this court in connection with the PIL (73/2020) on the misappropriation of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi ('PMKSN') funds.
On November 25, 2022, the high court directed the government on the PIL (73/2020) that (i) the state government shall take appropriate action against the erring officers and shall also take into consideration the one-man inquiry report, (ii) the state government shall strictly adhere to the guidelines for providing the benefit to appropriate beneficiaries, and (iii) the respondent authority shall implement the scheme in letter and spirit and by law. The court listed the contempt for the next hearing after six weeks, the advocate of the petitioner, Poran Bordoloi, said.
