GUWAHATI: Gauhati University, in association with the GU NSS Cell, celebrated Students’ Day on Monday through a webinar, commemorating the legacy of Bodofa Upendranath Brahma.
The webinar was inaugurated by Prof. Utpal Sharma, Registrar, Gauhati University, who highlighted Brahma’s invaluable contributions to society, particularly his scholarly and leadership endeavours. Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students’ Welfare, Gauhati University, emphasized Brahma’s visionary leadership and his significant role in uplifting the Bodo community.
Padma Shri Awardee, Prof. Anil Kumar Bodo, Head of the Department of Folklore Studies, delivered the keynote address, underscoring Brahma’s struggles and his remarkable journey in leading the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU). He also appreciated the Government of Assam for honouring Brahma’s legacy through the observance of Chatra Divas.
The event witnessed the participation of around 100 participants, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students from various colleges, reflecting a collective tribute to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma’s enduring impact on society.
