GUWAHATI: Guwahati Medical College and Hospital launched a new, innovative system of tagged bedsheets during weekdays to help improve hygiene and linen management at the facility. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this during a visit to the hospital on January 29, saying the initiative would likely reduce infection risks and improve care for patients.
Under the new system, each bedsheet is marked with a name of a particular weekday to allow for rotation in a manner that does not reuse the same sheet on successive days. The aim is to eliminate the hygienic problems that have persisted and to bring about better habits in the hospital.
This is a part of an overall effort to enhance hygiene levels in all medical facilities in Assam, with Nalbari Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) also implementing the same procedure. CM Sarma shared his enthusiasm over the project on social media, saying, "I came across this innovative idea on the internet a few days back regarding labeling bedsheets with weekdays and immediately ordered its implementation." We’ve introduced sheets with weekdays and colors mentioned so the same sheet is not repeated.”
This is a step toward better safety and comfort of patients in the health care sector of Assam. The initiative of providing patients with fresh, clean linens every day ensures a cleaner and more hygienic environment within hospitals for the benefit of both patients and healthcare professionals.
