GUWAHATI: Even though the process for the Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE) of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) in 2022 is not yet over, the State Government has started the preparations for the next CCE.
In a significant development, the Personnel Department of the State Government has sent letters to all departments to inform them of the status of their vacant ACS and allied services posts.
According to sources in the Personnel Department, earlier the gap between a CCE and its next CCE was quite wide. "Now, the government is contemplating toeing the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) line to hold CCE every year, subject to the availability of vacancies. This is the reason why the government has started the preparations for the next CCE."
The sources in the Personnel Department said that they would move the APSC for the next CCE after receiving details of vacancies from the departments and approval from the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the CCE (Main) 2022 was over in July this year. As many as 9,564 candidates took the examination. Some of the candidates who cleared preliminary examinations did not take the CCE (Main), the sources said. The number of vacant posts for CCE 2022 is 913. The final result is likely by the last part of 2023 or the first part of 2024.
