GUWAHATI: The Assam government will publish a comprehensive history book with photographs and documents related to the historic Assam Agitation, against Bangladeshi infiltrators, that took place from 1979 to 1985. The masses' agitation concluded with the tripartite agreement signed by the AASU (All Assam Students Union) and the All Assam Gana Sangram Parishad (AAGSP) with representatives of the then Central government. The pact was signed on August 15, 1985.

The initiative has been taken by the 'Implementation of Assam Accord' Department. An editorial committee has also been constituted in this regard.

The Department has requested the public to submit all documents relevant to the agitation. The tentative slated date to publish this history book is on the 'Martyrs Day' (December 10), 2020. On this day, Khargeswar Talukdar became a martyr, and was later declared as the 'First Martyr' of the Assam Agitation.
