GUWAHATI: In a significant boost to the city’s cleanliness and sustainability initiatives, representatives from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the European Union (EU), and the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) visited Guwahati’s waste management facilities this week. The visit was part of an ongoing collaboration aimed at enhancing the city’s urban infrastructure and promoting sustainable waste management practices under the guidance of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).
During their visit, the delegation reviewed key waste processing units, interacted with field staff, and evaluated the progress of GMC’s ongoing cleanliness initiatives. This was followed by a productive meeting between the visiting officials and GMC leadership, where both sides discussed strategies to further improve waste segregation, recycling, and public engagement.
GMC expressed gratitude to the international and national partners for their unwavering support. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to the EU, AFD, and NIUA for their continued support and valuable guidance in our mission towards a cleaner, greener Guwahati,” GMC officials stated.
