GUWAHATI: The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his statement an election rally in West Bengal on Thursday that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) would be enforced once the vaccination drive is over in the country.

Addressing to the media on Friday, AJP vice president Adip Kumar Phukan said, "It shows the anti-Assam stance of the incumbent BJP government."

"If the BJP government forcefully implement the Act, which is anti-constitutional and harmful for the people of the country, the people of Assam have to stand against the move," Phukan added.

The party warned of a massive agitation if the BJP government implements CAA in the State after the Covid-19 vaccination drive. The party also criticized the government's failure to revive two non-functional paper mills in the State.
