Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd (ALPCL) Makes Profit After 25 Years

GUWAHATI: The Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation Ltd (ALPCL) that has been making loss for the past 25 years earned a profit of Rs 26.54 lakh in fiscal 2018-19.

Addressing the press here on Wednesday, ALPCL chairman Manoj Saikia said this. He said that in the past two years a number of incomplete projects were completed. “Especially a project for the production of around eight lakh chicken per month, a project for the production of 50 MT of fodder at Sonapur daily, a project for reproduction of quail birds at Birubari have been revived,” Saikia said. Saikia also said a project for pork that has been revived will enable the supply to pork to the country and outside. “The corporation has also taken up the task of setting up butcheries (slaughter houses) at various locations in Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Diphu, Bongaigaon etc. The state-of-the-art slaughter house at Jorhat is going to be inaugurated soon. This apart, the corporation has provided self-employment opportunities to 10,000 jobless youths of both the sexes though activities like poultry, piggery etc in the past two years,” he said.
