GUWAHATI: A massive inferno broke out in Jorabat area, where a woman lost her life. The incident took place near an establishment named Shankar Bhojanalaya. The inferno destroyed as many as five houses as it started spreading swiftly. The deceased is identified as Sujata Choudhury (40).
According to sources, as the fire started spreading fast to the nearby areas, four houses were gutted. Meanwhile, cooking gas cylinders began to explode, which gave the locals in the area further reason to be concerned. The police and fire tenders reached the site and were able to douse the fire after much struggle. According to sources, the woman was in critical condition after being taken to a neighbouring hospital with 70 per cent burns. She succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. A proper investigation is carried out to find the main reason behind the fire. According to the Fire and Emergency Services, the owner of the land where four houses were gutted is of Mukuta Nanda Das. Nine rooms of the those four houses were gutted and the rent holders were Nitish Bhowmik, Gopi Mohan Singha, Subhash Choudhury, Gopeswar Singha.
