Veer Lachit Sena & CPI (M) stage protests 'Sadou Asom Ekatrita Yuba Parishad' threatens economic blockade of essential commodities against Mizoram at Jorabat from July 31

GUWAHATI: Members of three organisations, on Thursday, including Veer Lachit Sena, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and 'Sadou Asom Ekatrita Yuba Parishad' stage protests against the recent firing by Mizoram Police on the personnel of Assam Police and masses at Lailapur in Silchar on the Assam-Mizoram boundary.

Members of the 'Veer Lachit Sena' raised slogans while flauting the traditional Assamese 'gamosa' in front of Mizoram House along the GS Road. Mentionably, the organization had demanded on July 27 that the miscreants involved in the firing incident be handed over to Assam within 24 hours. However as the deadline lapsed, the orgaization staged the protest demonstration in front of the Mizoram House. Organizational Secretary of Veer Lachit Sena , Srinkhal Chaliha said in front of the media at the protest site, "We will not tolerate any threat. The Assamese people will give an appropriate reply!"

Meanwhile, the CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) also staged a protest over the Assam-Mizoram boundary issue at the 'Sahityarathi Lakhminath Bezbaroa Chowk' (Rotary Point) at the Guwahati Club area during the day. They demanded a peaceful and permanent solution to the inter-State boundary row.

Members of the 'Sadou Asom Ekatrita Yuba Parishad' also stage demonstration in front of the Mizoram House in the city on Thursday. They threatened that the organization will carry out continuous economic blockade of essential commodities against Mizoram at Jorabat from July 31.
