GUWAHATI: The Noonmati Police Station uncovered a petroleum oil lubricants (POL) pilferage racket in Guwahati. Police arrested two individuals, Birinchi Kumar Das and Ganesh Barman, in that connection.
The police raid, conducted at Sector 3 of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Marketing Yard on December 12, led to the seizure of 600 litres of petroleum products, valued at Rs. 54,000, stored in 15 drums. A vehicle bearing the registration number AS 01 EC 1305 suspected to have been used in the illegal operation was also confiscated.
The Noonmati Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify others involved in the racket and determine the extent of the pilferage.
