Guwahati: The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Guwahati, organized a workshop titled ‘Varta’ for media professionals to provide insights into the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, scheduled from May 1 to May 4 in Mumbai.
The session was chaired by Kripa Sankar Yadav, Additional Director General, PIB (North East Zone), who highlighted the growing global relevance of India’s audio-visual sector and stressed the media’s role in promoting regional storytelling, particularly from the North East.
Pavni Gupta, Deputy Director, PIB, delivered the keynote, detailing the summit’s structure, objectives, and international scope. She noted that WAVES 2025, supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will showcase sectors like film, television, OTT, animation, gaming, and immersive tech. The summit aims to position India as a global content hub and enhance its share in the international media market.
Dipankar Gogoi from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) highlighted the active participation of North East artists at the summit, underscoring efforts to foster inclusivity in India’s cultural narrative.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session between journalists and officials from PIB and Doordarshan News.
