GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has demanded a judicial inquiry into the cash-for-jobs recruitment scam, and the state BJP headquarters should be brought under investigation.

Addressing the media at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati, MLA and APCC Media Department Chairman Bharat Chandra Narah said, “Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s claims of transparent and fair recruitment have been proved false by some senior leaders and party workers. Some BJP leaders have already been arrested on charges of extorting money in the name of jobs. BJP Kisan Morcha leader Indrani Tahbildar committed suicide, which is saddening.”

Narah further said that “Abhimanyu Das has been accused of displaying weapons, and the Assam police have failed to arrest him. State BJP Vajpayee Bhawan office secretary Shantanu Pujari has been named in connection with the job scam. The arrested accused, Diban Deka, Anurag Chaliha, and Trishna Sharma, have revealed that they collected money from candidates on the orders of the BJP upper echelons, and the people of Assam are yet to know who the upper echelons are. There is a suspicion that a BJP minister, MLA, or leader is involved in the job scam. And the responsibility for revealing the suspicion lies with the Chief Minister. Therefore, the APCC demands a judicial inquiry into the cash-for-job scams from the Vajpayee Bhawan through a retired judge. In the cash-for-job scam, accused identified as Ashim Chakraborty, Rekhanta Das, and Trishna Saikia are involved. If the BJP’s top leaders involved in the recruitment scam are not brought under investigation, then the future of the unemployed youth of the state will be ignored. So, we demand that the people of the state have the right to know who is involved in the entire incident.”
