GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam has officially appointed Ranjan Sharma, ACS (Retd.), as the new Commissioner of the Assam State Election Commission (SEC). The appointment will come into effect from June 1, 2025, as per a notification issued by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department and approved by the Governor of Assam.
Ranjan Sharma previously held several significant positions, including Special Commissioner & Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, T&D Department, ITFC Department, and Chairman of the Medical & Health Recruitment Board.
According to the order, Sharma’s tenure as commissioner will continue until he attains the age of 65 years.
The terms and conditions of his appointment will be governed by the State Election Commissioner (Condition of Service) Rules, 2022.
The notification was digitally signed by Dr J. B. Ekka, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
