Assam Siksha Karmis demand State government to hold 'Special TET'

GUWAHATI: The AASSKU (All Assam Sanyogi Siksha Karmi Union) has urged the State government to hold a Special TET (Teachers' Eligibility Test) for all the 'Siksha Karmis' who used to work in the LP (Lower Primary) as 'Sanyogi' teachers. They were appointed in 2005-2006. However, their jobs were terminated on March 31, 2012. As a result, altogether 6,363 such 'Sanyogi' teachers became jobless.

Talking to The Sentinel, the general secretary of AASSKU — Shirazul Hoque said, "We have had a number of meetings with officials of the Education department and also the officials of 'Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission'. Since we were asked to go for the D.El.Ed diploma degree, a total of 3,559 of 'Sanyogi' teachers successfully got the degree.

"The government decided to hold 'Special TET' for the eligible Siksha karmis on February 28,2021. But, as the notification for the Assembly polls were announced, the scheduled Special TET got deferred.

"Now, the State government has decided to recruit 1 lakh teachers at various levels of the sector. Against this backdrop, we urge the authorities concerned to hold the Special TET that was earlier postponed.
