Assam: Speeding Dumper Kills Young E-Rickshaw Driver in Chhaygaon

PALASBARI: A fatal road accident in Chhaygaon claimed the life of a young man identified as Elias Ali (24 years) of Dhekenabari under Chhaygaon LAC on Sunday.

  According to sources, Ali had parked his e-rickshaw along National Highway 17 and was repairing it when tragedy struck. A speeding dumper truck, travelling from Guwahati towards Boko, ran over him, killing him on the spot. Local residents alleged that dumper trucks on this route routinely exceed speed limits and are causing accidents, turning the highway into a death trap. They demanded immediate action to curb reckless driving by these heavy vehicles.  Local residents managed to detain the dumper truck, which was later identified as belonging to Gobardhan in Chhaygaon. The vehicle’s registration number is AS-01R-C3803.
