GUWAHATI: Excise Minister Atul Bora asked the district excise superintendents, excise deputy superintendents, and excise inspectors to intensify their vigilance against the business of illegal liquor that robs the revenue of the government.

In a review meeting through videoconferencing, the minister told the district excise officers to check the running of illegal liquor businesses, besides boosting the collection of excise revenue. He asked the officials to intensify vigilance along interstate borders so as to check the entry of liquor from the neighbouring states illegally. He asked the officials to take the local licensed liquor retailers and other stakeholders to get details of the illegal liquor business going on in the state. “I believe that the licensed liquor retailers of the state can extend their help to the government in stopping the illegal liquor business,” he said.
