Guwahati Police Nabs Three Over Theft, Stolen Items Recovered

Stolen items, including 2 inverter batteries, 2 LPG cylinders, and 1 mobile handset, were seized. Legal action against the alleged thieves has been initiated.

GUWAHATI: An East Guwahati Police Department team from Basistha PS arrested 3 thieves. The arrested individuals have been identified as Joy (23), Dipak Das (20), & Bikash Das (19)—in a case of theft reported at Bangalibasti. Stolen items, including 2 inverter batteries, 2 LPG cylinders, and 1 mobile handset, were seized. Legal action against the alleged thieves has been initiated.

In another similar incident, the Guwahati police apprehended three AC thieves within 12 hours of a burglary at the Basistha Press Club office on Krishnapur. The suspects were caught following an investigation into the theft of air conditioning copper pipes and the AC system from the press club's premises on the 20th night.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Safiqul Islam, a resident of Champupera in Chaygaon; Inamul Ali; and Minarz Ali from Mukalmua in Nalbari. Several tools commonly used in the burglary, including three double-sided open wrenches, a sly wrench, a plier, a ring wrench, a screwdriver, a hammer, and one electric cutter machine were recovered from the thieves.

Following up on the case, the police traced the stolen items, which were found dumped at Patarkuchi. Additionally, the receiver of the stolen property, Ashma Khatun, a resident of Satgaon in Kamrup (M), was also apprehended. This rapid action by the police has ensured justice for the press club and led to the recovery of the stolen goods.
