GUWAHATI: As many as three books written by eminent writer Safiur Rahman Saikia were released at the Guwahati Press Club recently in the presence of a distinguished gathering of academics, bureaucrats, mediapersons, and leading luminaries of the state. The books-Koranor Galpa, Rumir Galpa, and Bibidh Praxang: Desh Kaal Manuh-were released by renowned physician, writer, and singer Dr. Anjanjyoti Choudhury; eminent scientist, writer, and former vice chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Kulendu Pathak; and leading journalist, thinker, and writer Haider Hussain, respectively. All three of them spoke highly about the literary merit and contemporary relevance of the books released by them and lauded the enthusiastic and untiring efforts of the author despite his age and professional background. Dilating on his literary journey, Mr. Saikia recalled with gratitude the kind of encouragement and inspiration he had received from the late Homen Borgohain and stated that writing enabled him to break himself free from monotony and loneliness and keep him intellectually alert. The program that began with a lokageet by Ms. Ratna Bhattacharya was presided over by the eminent writer and retired Deputy Commissioner, Tabiul Hussain. Earlier, Ms. Sidrat Rahman Saikia welcomed the guests while Dr. Taufiq Rahman Borbora explained the purpose of the meeting. Shri Pranjit Dutta entertained the audience with his wit and humour. While the renowned radio and TV personality Ms. Aroti Kalita anchored the programme Syeda Rahman Saikia offered the vote of thanks.
