Guwahati: The Assam government has announced the observance of ‘Shramdaan Ravivaar’ on the last Sunday of every month, dedicating the day to cleanliness, upkeep, and maintenance activities across all police establishments in the state. The initiative, introduced under the directives of the Chief Minister and coordinated by the Home & Political Department, aims to instill a spirit of civic responsibility and environmental stewardship within the police force. As per the official executive order, the programme will cover Police Stations, Outposts, Battalions, and other Police Units/Offices across Assam.

Key activities under ‘Shramdaan Ravivaar’ includes regular cleanliness drives within all police premises. Tree plantation drives to support environmental sustainability.  Joint activities with other Uniformed Services like Forest, Civil Defence, and Home Guards in coordination with District Administrations and lastly photographic documentation and brief reports to be submitted monthly for review and replication. District Commissioners, Police officials, and heads of battalions have been directed to ensure active participation and coordinate effectively with local stakeholders. Reports and visual documentation of each month’s activities are to be submitted by the fifth day of the following month to the respective Range Offices or Headquarters.

The Home Department has also urged the Forest Department to supply saplings to support the plantation activities.
