Guwahati: In a shocking turn of events, two bodies were recovered from different parts of Guwahati within a span of 24 hours, triggering concerns among residents.
On Sunday, the body of a man from the Marwari community was found floating in the Brahmaputra near Fancy Bazar. Identified as Kamal Jain, a resident of Jail Road, Fancy Bazar, his body was recovered at Sukreswar Ghat. Preliminary police investigation suggests it could be a case of suicide. The body has been sent to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem, and an investigation has been initiated by the Fancy Bazar police.
Just a day earlier, on Saturday, the body of a young woman was discovered under mysterious circumstances in Dighalipukhuri. The deceased, identified as Deepshikha Nath from Satgaon, had been reported missing by her family since Saturday evening. A missing person report had been filed at Satgaon Police Station earlier on Sunday.
