GUWAHATI: A two-day training programme on geriatric care was organized by the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, Kamrup Metropolitan District, under the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Assam. The programme, held from December 17 to December 18, at the PWD Convention Hall & Training Centre, Dispur, aimed to educate ICDS supervisors, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, ASHA officials, and other stakeholders on caring for the elderly. The training programme also aimed to enhance the capacity of stakeholders in providing quality care to the elderly.
Santosh Kutum, District Social Welfare Officer, Kamrup Metro, welcomed the participants and introduced the keynote address delivered by Director Mahanta. The director spoke on the purpose of the training programme, provisions under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana, and other government schemes and services available for the geriatric population.
Bhaskar Jyoti Manta, Director of Social Justice & Empowerment, and Parijat Bhuyan, District Development Commissioner, Kamrup (M) District, graced the inaugural session as chief guest and special guest, respectively.
