Assam: Two Members Of ATM Robbery Gang Arrested In Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In a significant operation, two members of an ATM robbery gang that had been terrorizing the residents of Guwahati for months were apprehended by a police team from Noonmati Police Station. The suspects, identified as Hari Om and Bitu Kumar, both hailing from Bihar, were operating a criminal network responsible for multiple ATM heists across the city.

Targeting ATMs in various parts of the metropolitan area, the gang had been spreading fear among residents with their brazen thefts. Marking a significant breakthrough in curbing the gang’s activities, Noonmati Police nabbed the duo. Based on information provided by the detained suspects, police conducted a raid in the Ramsingh Hill area on the night of the arrest.

However, one of the accused suffered a leg injury during the operation after falling from a height in the hilly terrain. The injured suspect under police custody was promptly admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of their operations, as the police suspect that the gang may have additional members.

Meanwhile, a quick response by the police team from Titabar Police Station, led by the officer-in-charge, foiled an attempted ATM theft. Two men were arrested, and the police seized a rod and an axe that were intended to be used in the crime.
