PALASBARI: Balen Kalita, a veteran journalist and a retired teacher of Hudumpur village in Palasbari LAC, breathed his last at a private hospital on Tuesday night. He was 75.
Kalita was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday in a serious condition due to high blood pressure.
He started reporting in Ajir Asom, Ajir Dainik Batori, and was working with Niyamiya Barta till his last breath. Kalita also worked as a teacher at Chhaygaon Government M.V. School.
A number of organization including E.P. Media Forum South Kamrup, Assam Press Correspondents’ Union (APCU), South Kamrup Press Club, Palasbari Rash Mahotsav Committee, Palasbari Durga Puja Committee, Palasbari Sahitya Sabha Committee, Palasbari Sanskriti Vikas Bhawan, Sadou Assam Satra Mahasabha Kamrup District Committee, South Kamrup Students Union, and 31 No Dahali LP School Head Teacher Anil Kalita, condoled.
