GUWAHATI: As the counting of votes for the Panchayat elections began this morning, candidates from the BJP-led NDA alliance have taken a significant lead across the state of Assam. Based on current trends, it is evident that the BJP-led alliance is on track to secure a majority of the regional Panchayats and Zila Parishads, feels state BJP president Dilip Saikia. In a statement issued to the media, Saikia described the massive support from the people of Assam as ‘unprecedented’. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for the state’s comprehensive development, which has encouraged voters to extend overwhelming support to the BJP-led front. He said that every promise made in the alliance’s manifesto would be implemented in phases with utmost priority.
