Assam Youth Congress workers demand release of YC President Kamrul Islam

GUWAHATI: The Youth Congress on Wednesday claimed that there’s a conspiracy behind Youth Congress president Kamrul Islam Choudhury’s arrest and demanded to release him soon. The Youth Congress members came in to the streets on Wednesday, in front of Rajiv Bhawan to stage protest against the arrest. Choudhury was arrested with the allegation for being indulged in vandalism and violence during anti- CAA agitation. One of the protestors Ratul patowari said that, “the fascist government has ignored the appeal of all the Assamese people and thus turned the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill) to CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). The government had planned to arrest some of the leaders and members of some political and non-political organization, so that they can slow down the anti-CAA protest by threatening the public with oppressive policy. Hence Kamrul Islam Choudhury’s arrest is nothing but a part of such self-created story.”
