Assault victim from Hatigaon area succumbs to injuries

GUWAHATI: Jasminara Ahmed (25), niece of former MLA Ali Akbar Miah who was assaulted by miscreants in the house of the latter on December 14, 2020 succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

Along with Jasminara, the miscreants assaulted another niece of Miah, Nilofa Akhtar (24) who passed away while receiving treatment following the attack. Both the victims were hit on their heads while they were together in a room of Miah's residence (flat no. 12) in Bakulban Housing complex under Hatigaon Police Station. Following the attack, both the victims were admitted to a private hospital in critical condition. Earlier, in this connection, two persons were arrested by the police.
