Axom Xahitya Xabha announces language martyr’s award

GUWAHATI: Axom Xahitya Xabha (AXX) President Paramananda Rajbongshi announced on Friday that four individuals and organization will be recipients of the Martyr in the Language Movement Award.

Oil India Limited will receive the Ranjit Borpujari Martyr in the Language Movement Award, while Basanta Kumar Bhuyan will receive the Anil Bora Martyr in the Language Movement Award. Dr Shantanu Laskar will receive the Muzammil Hoque Martyr in the Language Movement Award and Ganesh Tamuli will receive the Surjya Bora Martyr in the Language Movement Award.

Dr Shantanu Laskar will be the first recipient of the award on May 1, 2019 at Dibrugarh while the date of the other recipients will be decided on a later date. It is to be noted that a total of seven individuals and organizations names are to be announced for the Martyr in the Language Movement Award, where four names were announced and the rest three will be declared in the next three months.

Meanwhile, AXX also announced a memorial lecture on the death anniversary of research scholar and educationist, Dr Pargmoni Sharma on April 28 at the Guwahati AXX office. The subject of the lecture is Axomor Bihu: Sampratik Swarup Aru Bhabisyat.
