GUWAHATI: Following the Baghjan oil well blowout incident, the Fire and Emergency Services, Assam is now focused to use sophisticated equipments in their operations.

"The Fire and Emergency Services, Assam will purchase drones and hydraulic platforms which will be used in challenging operations. Drones will be used to quickly reach a vantage point where humans cannot easily get access to. It will increase the safety of the personnel by detecting irregularities on various infrastructures. Similarly hydraulic platforms will be used to achieve significant heights of buildings catching fire," said a source.

For operations in congested lanes where large vehicles cannot get access, the personnel will use motorcycles with necessary equipments to fight fire.

In Guwahati, the Fire services has identified – Fancy Bazar, Athgaon, Dhirenpara and Fatasil Ambari as vulnerable areas which are prone to fire.

The State Fire services has also decided to develop its infrastructure as during emergency situations it is hard for the fire personnel to execute the operations efficiently, the source underlined.

It is to be noted that the Fire and Emergency Services, Assam has as many as 619 fire tenders being operated across the State.
