GUWAHATI: The Assam Legislative Assembly's goodwill delegation to Bangladesh received a warm reception from Bangladesh both at the Akhaura border and Dhaka today.

The team led by Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary left Agartala for Bangladesh via the India-Bangladesh border at Akhaura this morning. The Deputy Commissioner of the Brahmanbaria district and a few officials of Bangladesh received the Assam team at the international border. From there, the team left for Dhaka by road. It takes around five hours from Akhaura to Dhaka by road.

Talking to The Sentinel over the telephone, Speaker Daimary said, "After arriving in Dhaka, we visited the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum. Our MLAs studied the museum and its displays. We dined at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. Tomorrow we will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."

The team has 32 legislators, besides bureaucrats and a cultural troupe. The team left Guwahati for Dhaka via Tripura yesterday.
