GUWAHATI: The border branch of Fatasil Ambari Police Station has arrested a Bangladeshi woman who had crossed over illegally to the country.

According to a police source, the accused - Rima Khan is a resident of Bathoimuri of Manikganj district in Bangladesh.

The source said the woman separated from her husband in Bangladesh following which she had developed a relationship with a person from Nepalgunj in Nepal through social media. On November 20, 2019 the woman entered the country through West Bengal's border in Haridaspur and Benapur. After entering the country she met the person and since January 2020 both were residing at a rented apartment at Dhirenpara in Guwahati.

The woman's visa expired on November 18, 2019, the source added. Later the border branch presented her in front of the court which has sent her to judicial custody.
