Bar Council to provide financial assistance to advocates who are affected due to lockdown

GUWAHATI: The Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have taken an initiative to provide financial assistance to advocates who are affected due to the coronavirus pandemic.

An amount up to Rs. 5,000 would be given as a one-time measure of financial assistance to the affected people.

This scheme shall come into effect on being approved by the Bar Council of India.

In this regard, a special 9-member committee was formed comprising of members from the State Bar Council. The committee’s role will be to identify the beneficiaries for the scheme. The applicants can apply for the funds by downloading an application form by visiting – www.barcouncilassametc.org.

The last date of submission is May 7 and the eligibility criteria for the financial aid are –
