BJP-AGP-UPPL to campaign unitedly: Bhabesh Kalita

GUWAHATI: State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Bhabesh Kalita exuded confidence that the BJP- Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)- United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) alliance would emerge victorious in all the five LACs where bye-elections will be held on October 30, 2021.

Talking to The Sentinel, Kalita said, "The BJP-AGP-UPPL alliance will unitedly campaign for the bye-elections. The BJP has already announced the names of candidates in three seats and the UPPL has declared the names of its candidates for the Tamalpur and Gossaigaon seats. Regarding the Majuli seat, the party will take a decision when the bye-poll in Majuli constituency is declared."

He said that no national political leader was expected to come for campaigning. "So far no national leader is expected to campaign for the bye-polls. Our Chief Minister, ministers and leaders of the alliance parties will campaign," he said.

The last date of filing nomination papers is October 8, 2021. On the same date, the electoral rolls of the five LACs where bye-polls will be held, will be finalized.
