BJP President Ranjit Kumar Das: CAB Being Misinterpreted

GUWAHATI: State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Das has said that some organizations in Assam are misinterpreting what the BJP’s ‘sankalp patra’ says on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB).

Talking to the media in Guwahati on Tuesday, Ranjit Kumar Das said: “The ‘sankalp patra’ says that the party will reintroduce the CAB, but only through consultation with those apprehensive of it. However, a section of organizations doesn’t mention the phrase ‘only through consultation with those apprehensive of it’. This nothing but is bending the truth.”

Clearing such misinterpretations relating to the CAB, Das said: “The CAB that was introduced in the Parliament is no longer there. Since the BJP is committed to bring it afresh through consultation with those apprehensive of the Bill, it will be a new CAB.”

On the performance of the present BJP-led government, Ranjit Kumar Das said: “The government has taken adequate steps to stop influx from across the border. It has taken a pilot project of smart fencing along the riverine border with success. Such smart fencings will be a reality along all international borders, where necessary.”

Das also highlighted that the ‘sankalp patta’ of the party has laid stress on zero tolerance on terrorism, both domestic and foreign terrorists.
