BJP suspended the prime accused in the SI recruitment scam Diban Deka

GUWAHATI: The State BJP suspended the prime accused in the SI (sub-inspector) recruitment scam Diban Deka. Deka was arrested by the police from Patcharkuchi on Wednesday night.

Sharing this development with the media here on Thursday, State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Das said, "We did request the Home department to act tough against any BJP members involved in the scam. The police could arrest Diban Deka at the directive of the Chief Minister. We've suspended Diban Deka from the primary membership of the party immediately. Diban Deka was not a BJP leader. He was just a primary member and a worker. During my tenure I haven't entrusted him any party responsibility."

Reacting to the APCC's (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) protest against the SI recruitment scam, State BJP spokesperson Lakhya Konwar said, "It's because of his goodwill the Chief Minister ordered cancellation of the examination and order an inquiry into it barely 15 minutes after the leakage of the question paper had come to light. The way the Sonowal government is taking measures against corruption was not seen during the Congress regime."
