GUWAHATI: The BJP is going to start its public relation drive (janasampark Abhijan) from June 16 in 29 LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) in the State.

The drive is a grand one aimed at making the people of the State aware of all activities done by the party-led government at the Centre after the completion of one year and the party-led government at Dispur after the completion of four years.

Addressing the media at party office here on Thursday, State BJP general secretary Pulak Gohain said, "On May 30 this year while the BJP-led government at the Centre completed one year, the party-led government in the State completed four years on May 24. We've a programme to make the performance of the two governments known to 50 lakh families in Assam. Our drive to start on June 16 will conclude on June 30. During the drive we're going to hand over two booklets, one signed by the Prime Minister and the other by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, to the families so as to let them know the achievements of the two governments.

"While the Chief Minister is going to kick-start the programme on June 16 at Boko LAC, NEDA (North East Democratic Alliance) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate it at Tamulpur LAC and State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass will open it at Guwahati West LAC at the same time. The programme will be inaugurated by other ministers, MPs and former MPs after half-an-hour in the remaining 26 LACs.

"Party workers in twos will go the families by strictly adhering to social distancing norms. This apart, the party will hold three virtual rallies – on June 18 in Guwahati at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalaskhtra where Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will attend the address to be made by national party president JP Nadda. Such meetings will be on June 21 at Silchar and on June 24 at Dibrugarh. We need to do all party activities digitally as the lockdown doesn't allow us to hold rallies and meetings. The eight morchas of the party are going to hold 24 meetings through video conferences. The process has been underway."
