GUWAHATI: A team of officials from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Guwahati carried out a search and seizure operation at the M/s Maa Laxmi CM Complex in Kamarpatty based on reliable sources on Thursday. The team seized toys that were sold without an ISI mark from the shop. BIS Officer Guwahati Branch said, “Toys have been brought under Mandatory Certification through the Quality Control Order under the BIS Act 2016 and should bear the ISI Mark. Violation of the same is a punishable offence with a fine of minimum Rs 2 Lakh or imprisonment of one year or both.”
