GUWAHATI: The Congress will be contesting in four LACs in the forthcoming bye-elections while it has left one seat for Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and one for Raijor Dal.

Addressing a joint press conference with AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi in Guwahati on Sunday, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Bora said that the Congress would field its candidates in Thowra, Mariani, Tamalpur and Gossaigaon LACs while AJP would contest in the Majuli LAC. "We have left the Bhabanipur LAC for Raijor Dal. We have held talks with Raijor Dal but the party is yet to give its confirmation," said Bora.

Bye-elections in the LACs, except Majuli, will be held on October 30. The counting of votes will take place on November 2.
